Safeguarding Policy

The Northern Nanny Agency is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families. The safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children placed in the care of our candidates is our highest priority.

Our Responsibilities

  • To ensure all candidates are carefully vetted before introduction to families.
  • To promote safe recruitment practices in line with UK legislation and best practice.
  • To act immediately on any safeguarding concerns raised by candidates, clients, or third parties.

  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
  • At least two verified references, including their most recent employer

We expect all candidates to:

  • Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of the children in their care
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
  • Respect family privacy and confidentiality
  • Follow health and safety practices, including safe supervision inside and outside the home

Reporting Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises:

  • Candidates must report immediately to the appropriate authority (for example, the Local Safeguarding Children Board or NSPCC)

  • We will cooperate fully with statutory authorities where required
